The under 10s had their work cut out with Caldy as a much stronger side kept Newport back in their own half for most of the game. Newport however defended extremely well and easily halved the potential Caldy try count of 19. All members of the team played well, but special mention to Lewis Gillespie, Fergus Mulhern, and Mathew Jackson who all scored with fine solo efforts.

 

 

 

 

 

Wirral 45 v 15 Newport

The match with the Wirral was a more closely fought affair but with the home side again in the ascendancy. Notwithstanding, Newport playing in the unfamiliar change strip of blue and white, demonstrated some excellent forward play between Hallam Corbett-Jones and Alex Massey resulting in them both driving over for strong forward’s tries, with Alex adding the third in the dying minutes after a fine solo run.
