On 23rd September 2009 Newport (Salop) RUFC Minis & Juniors hosted a Tag Rugby tournament for local primary schools.

 

Teams from Newport CE , Moorfields, St Peter & St Paul's RC, St Peter's CE, Lilleshall and Castle House took part:

 

 

Each school had a squad of up to 12 players from years 5 and 6, and the matches were played to the RFU Under 8 Continuum Tag Rugby rules (e.g. ball handed over after 6 tags).

 

 

After a closely contested afternoon of rugby, Newport ran out winners with Moorfield runners-up:
