Notes for Players

These are general notes for all mini and junior players - please note there may be more information specific to your age group on the team pages

Latest information on matches / training can be found on the website - some details were in the newsletter given to you at registration - with the details for next Sunday's programme displayed on the home page (together with the time that information was last updated). Please note training pitches are similar to last season - click here for details.

Coaching on Sunday mornings starts at 10:30am. Matches, both home and away, generally kick-off at 11:00am - although three-way fixtures, especially for older age groups, may need to start earlier.

Your coaches will let you know how fixture information will be communicated (e.g. e-mail, text, website, etc.) and you can always contact your coach if unsure.

Please make sure you let your coach know if you are not available well in advance - this applies to both matches and training - it's far easier for the coaches to make every session as useful and enjoyable as possible if they know beforehand how many players they'll be working with. So if you know you're away at Easter 2010 tell the coach now and let him remember !!

Reminders for Players

  • Is your Tetanus Protection up to date? It MUST be before you start playing.
  • Do your boots have legal studs, if you are unsure, click here
  • Have you got a gum shield? You need one if you're doing contact !
  • Any padding, head guards, shoulder pads etc. must be marked with an IRB label.
  • When playing, control your temper, never argue with the referee his decision is final.
  • Make sure you bring water to drink during training and matches.
  • Please take care of any club shirts and return them to your coach (preferably clean) when requested.
  • Rugby has a reputation as a social sport, when playing at home remember your opposition are guests of the club, please make them feel welcome.
  • Make sure you have warm kit to train in, especially in cold weather. Wear lots of thin layers that can be taken off as you warm up.  NB Track suits can be a good idea but remember NO ZIPS if you're doing contact.  Also, please ensure all kit is marked with your name - a lot of items get left at the end of both training sessions and matches - this helps us return things to their rightful owners.
  • Don't forget that coaches, assistants, referees and other helpers give up their time free of charge so that you may enjoy the game of rugby and develop your skills.  This applies to any opponents as well as your own club.
