Catering
The club provides meals after matches for both home and away players.  To help keep annual subscriptions to a minimum the club avoids the use of external caterers by getting help from the parents in each age group on a rota basis.  Typically each team would only cover two or three Sundays in a season so if you're able to commit to assist with the catering on one of these occasions we  should cover all the matches without any problem.  Please try to help when your son's or daughter's team coach asks for volunteers and keep in mind that the coaches, assistants and other club officers are already very busy on Sunday mornings !

The rota for Sunday catering will be available shortly. Plus there are detailed instructions for those helping.

Insurance
The RFU provides, via the club, a basic insurance. Details are available on the poster in the clubhouse. Further cover for personal accident and/or loss of playing kit is the responsibility of the players and their parents.

Parent Participation.
The club would not function well without help from the parents of the players. There are several ways in which you can help. The list below is just an example - we'll be issuing more details shortly
Coaching / Team Manager
The coaches sometimes need help. This can range from occasionally holding a tackle bag to becoming a qualified coach or assistant. Its great fun and coaching courses are paid for by the club, and more volunteers are always welcome.  Another important task is team management - making sure everyone knows where they're supposed to be, is properly registered, returns club shirts, etc. There may also be other ways you can assist with the team e.g. writing notes for match reports, photographs for the website, helping with the admin when coaches are busy, etc.

General Support

The committee are always looking for additional help, beyond just coaching, to ensure the workload in running the mini and junior section is spread around. Perhaps you could assist with some of the administration ? Could you support the fixture secretary ? Could you become a first aider ? If you're able to help please talk to a committee member - despite appearances they're quite approachable !

Transport
Parent transport is usually required for away matches. The club can only hire a coach when the number of teams justifies it.

Team Sponsorship
At Newport we aim to keep subscriptions as low as possible to encourage all to be able to train and play. We balance the books by fundraising and sponsorship. You will see the names of sponsoring companies are on some of the match shirts. If you, or your business, are able to support us in this way, please talk to the Chairman or Secretary, or contact the webmaster who will pass on your details.

Fundraising events
Last year we ran events including a quiz night and a race night to raise money for the Mini and Junior section.  As well as raising money these are great fun - please look out for details of forthcoming events and support our efforts

Support your child

Please take the time explore the information available on the website.  It explains what is expected of the players (you may need to check team pages as this varies with age group), kit requirements (e.g. studs, mouthguards, winter clothing) together with explanations of the game for those new to rugby and links to the RFU continuum which details the specific rules and regulations for each age group.  If there's additional information you think would be of use to parents please send details to the webmaster

Want to know more ?
