Under 12s vs Telford - 30th September 2007
Sunday saw the Under 12s entertain Telford for their first match of the 2007-08 season.
Telford unfortunately were missing several key players and needed to borrow five from Newport to make a team. So the contest was split in to thirds with Newport players rotating between their own side, Telford and the touch line to ensure everyone got plenty of match practice whil

st maintaining a sensible contest on the field.
The more experienced squad members quickly got back in to the swing of things but there was also pleasing debuts for James Bloor, George Bradshaw and Ben Nicoll showing their rugby experience for the first time in a Newport shirt; Joe

Furlong demonstrating the transferability of his rugby league skills; Daniel Witty adding his strength to the pack after an absence of over 12 months; and Daniel Stanley & Joe Wright playing in their first competitive rugby matches, with Joe showing some excellent covering in defence.

After the surprise of finding themselves playing against their own team mates there were good skills shown right across the squad giving the coaches cause for optimism for the next match against Willenhall on 14th October.
Next Sunday will be training starting as usual at 10:30am.
Lets keep up the good work.
